The Challenge MAA Worldwide issued to Marketing Students in Universities and Business Schools around the world late last year couldn't have been more topical in the current economic climate. "How would you KickStart Tourism in your Country".

Students were to form themselves into Promotion Marketing Agencies and pitch to the International Judging Panel of MAA Worldwide Agency Heads, Clients and Academics, how they would execute the brief, focussing on at least 5 non-Advertising tools, viz, the Internet, eMail, social marketing, viral marketing, exoperiential, mobile phone marketing, podcasting, cross promotions & publicity.

The Academic Challenge was developed by MAA Worldwide three years ago as an extension of the long standing MAA GLOBES Programme which recognises the Best of the Best in Promotion Marketing from around the World.

The Objective of the Academic Challenge is to recognise the work of young Marketing Professionals studying Marketing in Universities & Business Schools around the World.

This year submissions were received from 10 Countries and after several levels of detailed adjudication, Team Imagine Israel from the IDC Herzliya International School, have been declared winners of the MAA GLOBE and a trip for the Team Leader to the 2009 MAA GLOBES Award Ceremony at the Langham Hotel Boston, on October 20th to accept the Award.

"Transferring the Tel Aviv beach to the Red Place in Moscow was brilliant and relevant: providing a new & different image for Israel, directed to young potential tourists to the country."
Yves Kergrohenn, General Manager of STAL IJIN – France.

"The calibre of entries in this year's Academic Challenge made the judging process extremely difficult. The Team Imagine submission reflected a very high level of strategic thinking. The comprehensive use of traditional and new marketing tools made execution of the concept very plausible".
Christine Bennett, SCA Promotions. USA
