2nd Annual MAA Worldwide Globes Awards to be judged in Toronto, September 6th and 7th, 2001 at the Design Exchange

Aldo Cundari (Canada) appointed Judges Committee Chair
TORONTO, ON - The judging of entries for the 2nd Annual Association of Promotion Marketing Agencies Worldwide (APMA) Globes Awards will take place in Toronto, Canada at the Design Exchange, September 6th and 7th, 2001. The announcement was made today by Aldo Cundari, Chair of this year's international judging committee. Mr. Cundari is the Chairman and CEO of Cundari Integrated Advertising in Toronto, Canada.

"We are very proud that Canada is the host country for the judging of this years' Globes Awards," said Mr. Cundari. "At Globes 2000, Canada won five of the seventeen categories demonstrating once again that Canada is home to some of the most creative and effective promotion professionals in the world."

"A recent report on the U.S. promotion industry (Promo magazine, May 2001)," explained Mr. Cundari, "indicates that more and more, promotion-driven strategies are becoming a integral component of advertising. The Globes, as the only significant, promotional marketing award presented internationally reflects the creativity and effectiveness that promotional programs bring to the marketing mix."

"More than half of the ad agencies polled by Promo stated that they used promotion as an ancillary component of an integrated marketing plan, with 32% categorizing it as a core component. The fact is increased Ad agency revenues are a direct result of the increased emphasis being placed by marketers on consumer promotion. Promotion marketing enjoyed their best year ever in 2000 with revenues rising by 8.1%, breaking the $100 billion plateau for the first time."

About the Globes Awards
The Globes is organized by the APMA Worldwide, in partnership with professional associations and media companies around the world. To qualify each entry must have already won a best of show award in its country of origin, truly making the Globes the best of the best.

Winners in each of 17 product categories from each key international region - Latin America; Europe, Africa and the Middle East; Asia and Australia/Asia; USA and Canada compete against each other to select the world's best in each category. As a recent winner put it, "Recognition from our peer group on the world stage is a great tribute for everyone involved."

The call for entries was distributed in January 2001. This year the competition has substantially increased with over a thousand entries received, up 29% from last year. Twenty-eight countries including new participants from Chile, Poland, Russia and the Netherlands have submitted their "best of the best" in hopes of taking home a Globes Award from one of 17 award categories.

In addition to honoring the worldwide winners, this year's Globes ceremony will honor Mr. Richard Branson, the Chairman of Virgin Atlantic, with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his work as a global marketer.

The awards ceremony will take place in Palm Beach, Florida at the Four Season's Resort on Monday, November 12, 2001. "Last year's show met with rave reviews and the winners' creative work was brilliant. It proves great ideas transcends language and culture," said Greg Bennett, Producer of the Globes Show and President of Luna Bacardi Group/Aspen, an APMA member Agency.

ALDO CUNDARI - Globes Awards Judging Chair Chairman, CEO, Cundari Integrated Advertising, Canada
After graduating with honors in 1978 from the Istituto Europeo del Disegneo in Rome, Italy, Mr. Cundari quickly established himself in the marketing and communications field. By 1980, he had created the foundation for the Cundari Group Ltd. Cundari has been responsible for many marketing breakthroughs and an ever-increasing and satisfied client base, from its first customer retention programs for Hewlett Packard to highly successful Brand building campaigns for BMW Canada, Siemens Canada. He has grown the business to where it is today, always with an emphasis on an integrated communication approach to build a brand combined with highly automated production. This philosophy has provided Cundari clients with the ability to achieve highly creative and high-profile communication programs, in a very cost-effective manner. Mr. Averill was born in Santiago de Chile and holds a Business degree from the Universidad de Chile. After a decade in marketing for Unilever, where he lead several consumer product lines and attended various senior marketing courses in London, Mr. Averill become CEO O. of Samsung Electronics where he implemented the worldwide image revamp of the Brand. Currently, he is a marketing advisor to several international companies and a frequent contributor to Chiles' marketing publications.

Prior to becoming Director of Operations at Hughes Communications Inc., Mike Bacidore was Executive Editor of Sales & Marketing Strategies And News, the nation's comprehensive news source for successful sales and marketing strategies. He has spoken extensively throughout the United States on topics ranging from sales force motivation to promotion marketing. Bacidore holds an Executive MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and a BA from the University of Illinois. Before joining Sales & Marketing Strategies And News, he worked in various marketing and editorial positions at CCH USA, a division of Wolters Kluwer.

GREG BENNETT President, Luna Bacardi Group/Aspen, Culver City, USA
Greg Bennett is the founder of Luna Bacardi Group, a full-service integrated marketing and promotion agency. Based in Los Angeles, Luna Bacardi Group represents a list of blue chip clients in local, regional, national and international marketing campaigns. He has guided the marketing efforts for clients, such as Lever Brothers, GMC, Nissan, Sprint PCS, Guinness, Pepsi and Sony Columbia TriStar. Mr. Bennett attended Florida State University, where he earned a B.A. in Communications and an M.A. in International Business Communications. Prior to creating Luna Bacardi Group, Mr. Bennett was worldwide marketing director for the Florida Division of Tourism, promotions director for Club Med and vice president of promotions for Eastern Airlines. GEORGE BRIGANDI President, Partner, Brigandi & Associates, Incorporated, Chicago, USA
George Brigandi is the principal partner of Brigandi and Associates, the Chicago based company he began in 1991. Clients of the agency include Kellogg's, Peoples Energy, viaLink, Terion Wireless Data, Sargento Foods, Ameritech, Cantel AT&T and Rayovac. Prior to opening Brigandi & Associates he was the Senior Executive Vice-President for Marketing Corporation Of America/Lee Hill, Inc. Prior to that Mr. Brigandi was Vice-President, Director of Merchandising and Sales Promotion at J. Walter Thompson USA where his clients included Kellogg's, Kraft, Miller Brewing, Quaker Oats, Hyatt Hotels, Sears, Northern Telecom, and Oscar Mayer. As an MA graduate from Duquesne University and a BA graduate from St. Anselm's College Mr. Brigandi has spent the past 24 years in the marketing and advertising business.

CLAUDE CHAFFIOTTE Managing Director, Cordiant (141), Courbevoie France
Mr. Chaffiotte is the Managing Director of 141 France. When he joined in 1999 it was a 12-person agency. Under Mr. Chaffoitte's direction the agency diversified and developed their expertise in the Direct Marketing and Interactive business, positioning 141 as a strong agency within the European network. In 2000 he was appointed to the 141 European Board and became a minority shareholder of 141 France. Today 141 is a 30 people agency. The company is profitable having doubled their revenue since 1999. Direct Marketing, CRM and interactive now represent 70% of the revenue. In addition 141 leads 3 international accounts: Somfy, BAT and Stepstone. BAT is now on contract and has become the 2nd most important client in 141's portfolio. Prior to joining 141 France he was the Managing Director of The Sales Machine. Clients included Mercedes, Heineken, Citro‘n and Yves Saint Laurent. Mr. Chaffiotte began his career in 1988 with YKA which was later merged with HDM then Prosper, where he become Managing Director of the new entity called Euro Prosperyka. He is a graduate of the INSEEC Bordeaux Business School and is also an accomplished athlete participating in both the Paris and New York 2000 Marathons. In 1978, '80 and '82 he was the French handball championship and in 1983 he was the European champion.

HYWEL DAVIES Managing Partner, Davies Little Cowley Fiddes, London, England
Hywel Davies is Managing Partner of the independent UK agency, Davies, Little Cowley Fiddes. Founded in 1991, clients include Philips Lighting, Tesco, The Daily Telegraph, and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. The agency is fully integrated, producing advertising, direct marketing and promotion solutions for its clients in 10 countries across Europe. The agency won the APMA Grand Prix Award in 2000. Hywel began his career in brand management working for Coca-Cola before joining Young & Rubicam. There he worked on a range of classic brands for Heinz, P&G, IDV, and Colgate Palmolive.

RICO DI GIOVANNI President, Marketing Drive Canada, Toronto, Canada
With over 16 years experience, Rico is a true veteran of the promo wars. After years of honing his skills with other leading agencies, his greatest achievement was the formation of IMPACT/FCB in 1994 and later transforming it into Marketing Drive Canada. Under his leadership, MDC has grown to be one of Canada's premiere promotional marketing agencies with an enviable list of blue-chip clients. Rico's passion for promotions can only be topped by his love of pasta. (Fortunately, he talks a lot less with food in his mouth.) Rico's distinguished laugh is well known around the tables of the promotion association boards on which he serves, including PMA, CAPMA and APMA. MIKE FENTON Director, Events Marketing Magazine, Toronto, Canada
Mike Fenton is the Director - Events, for the Marketing Media Group, publisher of Marketing Magazine - Canada's leading trade publication for the marketing, advertising and communication sectors. Mr. Fenton oversees a group that produces a series of Canada's largest business conferences, trade and awards shows. His primary responsibilities include strategic planning, sales, advertising/promotion, event execution and new business development. In 2001/2002 - this list of events will include: the 80th Marketing Awards Gala, the 28th Premium & Incentive Show, 7th Canadian Sponsorship & Promotional Marketing Symposium, the 2nd Canadian PROMO! AWARDS and the 2nd Media Innovation Awards. Mike's varied background includes experience in the sales, education, sports and event marketing industries. Previous positions include senior roles with The Sportsmen's Shows, Tennis Canada and The Partnership Network. IAIN FERGUSON CEO, Marketing Services, Euro RSCG
Iain Ferguson has been one of the architects of The Sales Machine Euro RSCG, Euro RSCG's global marketing services network, since it was launched in 1999. Ranked second worldwide, The Sales Machine offers local and global expertise in direct marketing, sales promotion, event marketing, database marketing, and interactive. Previously, Iain was Chief Executive Officer of KLP Euro RSCG in the UK. He is a former Chairman of the SPCA-the agency professional association for the UK-and recently became the first President of APMA from outside North America. Iain has extensive experience in client-side and agency management, having held a number of senior positions in the past twelve years.

JEFFREY K. MCELNEA Partner, Satmark Media Group, USA
Jeffrey K. McElnea, is the former chairman and CEO of Einson-Freeman Inc., and will be inducted in November into the APMA's Hall of Fame. Mr. McElnea was a cum-laude graduate of Dartmouth College when he joined the Paramus, NJ-based agency as an intern in 1970. Over the next three decades he worked his way up to become chairman and CEO, leaving in June 2000 to become a partner in Satmark Media Group, a start-up venture that is rolling out a retail media network using technologically enhanced ATM machines. Advancing through the ranks at Einson-Freeman Inc over three decades, McElnea served in a variety of management positions, from promotion manager to marketing director to sales and marketing VP and then general manager before landing the top job. On becoming president of the agency at age 29, he banded with a group of partners and in 1978 took the company private. Ten years later he sold the business to U.K.-based WPP Group PLC, making Einson one of the first promotion shops to be acquired by a major agency network. Following the acquisition he stayed on as president and then chairman/CEO, serving another 12 years. Under his stewardship the agency made the transition from a highly specialized point-of-sale display producer to its current status as a full-service promotion/marketing agency. One of the earliest members of APMA (then known as CSPA), Mr. McElnea served two terms as president, was a board member for five, and led the APMA's annual college seminar and recruitment program. Over the years he has served as an unofficial industry spokesman and was a frequent contributor to trade journals and business magazines.

ROBIN OXLEY Waters Molitor Inc., Minneapolis, USA
Robin Oxley has nearly 15 years experience focused in the promotional marketing industry. She began her career at General Mills working on promotions across all brands with a strong emphasis in Big G cereals. Nine years ago she left and joined Waters Molitor as one of the agency's lead promotion visionaries and idea developers. Robin has been instrumental in the development of Waters Molitor's recent 6 APMA "Best in the World" award winning programs. The agency has received international recognition for it's unique ability to create Brand Enthusiasm(TM) and drive purchase.

JEFF SCHNEIDER Creative Director, SJI Companies, St. Louis, Missouri USA
Featured several times in Promo Magazine, winner of New York Art Directors, Addys, TAM, and Flair awards, Jeff specializes in strategic image and theme development. He is the creative spark behind the agency's portfolio of product launches; direct marketing campaigns, corporate identity, print advertising, event marketing and promotion campaigns. The SJI Companies were founded in 1988 as SJI, Inc., a strategic sales promotion agency. Today, The SJI Companies are comprised of four business units: Consulting, Promotions, Events, Fulfillment. Jeff joined SJI in '94 and received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

AMIE SMITH Director of International Business Development, Promotions.com, New York, USA
Amie Smith is Director of International Business Development for Promotions.com, a New York based promotion agency. She has been with the company since September1999. Ms Smith is also a regular contributing writer for marketing trade magazines around the world, including US-based PROMO magazine, Argentina-based Tiempos de Promoci—n and others. Prior to Promotions.com, she was the Special Events Manager and International Editor at PROMO magazine. While there, she created the World PRO Awards of Excellence, an international awards program that recognizes outstanding promotion marketing campaigns from around the world. She is a much sought after international speaker on the subject of promotion marketing around the world and also wrote the monthly international news section, edited the overseas column and served as editorial director and senior writer on special reports, including Going Global, a 24-page report that highlighted the legality of promotion practices around the world. Before PROMO, Amie worked as Special Projects Coordinator at Inc. magazine. She started her career providing public relations support for the National Rifle Association of America in Washington D.C. She has a B.A. degree from Franklin & Marshall College and a Master's Degree from Boston University.

CHRISTY TEASDALE President, Impiric Promotions Canada, Toronto, Canada
Christy Teasdale has worked in the marketing communications industry in Canada for over 18 years. She began her career on the client side with a small financial institution, where she worked for 3 years in the customer care and product marketing area. In 1986, she made the switch to the agency side beginning her promotional marketing career with Firstcom Marketing Inc. With tremendous company growth, a buy-out by Young & Rubicam and a merger into Wunderman in 1998, the next 15 years offered her a wide range of business opportunities. Christy is now the Senior Vice President, General Manager of Wunderman in Canada where she is responsible for the Promotion and Event Group. Her many years of experience within the promotion marketing industry has offered Christy the opportunity to work with many clients within a wide range of client categories including, but not limited to: QSR, C-store, Gasoline, Department store, retail, Brewery, Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods - Food and Automotive. Along with her work responsibilities, Christy is the Treasurer for the Canadian Association of Promotion Marketing Agencies (CAPMA) as well as an active volunteer leader with the Girl Guides of Canada. Christy is a graduate of The University of Western Ontario.
