Call for Entries Announced for 2002 Globe Awards

APRIL 15 - CALL FOR ENTRIES ANNOUNCED FOR 2002 GLOBE AWARDS (APMAW) has issued a call for entries for the 2002 GLOBES Awards, which will honor the creators of the world's top promotional campaigns run within the past year.

The GLOBES are the only truly international awards in the field of promotional marketing and since their inception just three years ago, have grown in stature to symbolize excellence in the industry. Last year a total of 1,060 entries were received (up 29% from the previous year's total of 798) from 24 countries in 4 regions; Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America. Last year's competition included campaigns from newcomers, Poland, Russia, India and China.

The 2002 roster of Globes Media and Association Partners so far includes: PROMO Magazine-USA; Marketing Magazine & CAPMA-Canada; ADOI Magazine-Asia; Tiempos de Promocion, Carta de Publicidad & CAMPRO-Latin America; Estrategias-Spain; Media & Marketing Polska-Poland; BTL-Russia; MCCA-UK; Forum Shivuk-Israel; and Folha de Sao Paulo & CAMPRO-Brazil. Additional worldwide partners are still being confirmed.

"We're very excited about the coming Awards," said Amie Smith, Managing Director of Zipatoni Group's New York office and head of the 2002 GLOBES program. "Even at this early stage it appears the competition will be far bigger than last year".

Entries will be judged for 16 categories, ranging from Best Use of Advertising to Best Retail Account-specific Activity, with an overall "Grand Prix" winner selected from among the sixteen best-of-category finalists. The competition is open to promotion, advertising and direct marketing agencies, consultancies, in-house marketing departments at client companies, and other third parties involved in the development of a promotion. Judging will take place in Toronto by an international panel of senior-level promotional marketing professionals, representing both the client and agency sides. Campaigns will be judged based on strength of concept, originality, quality of execution and results and must have run during calendar year 2001.

The entry deadline is June 14, 2002. The winners will be announced on October 28th during the APMA autumn conference, to be held at Turnberry Isle Resort in Miami, Florida.
