AMIE SMITH HUGHES NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AGENCIES ASSOCIATION WORLDWIDE

STAMFORD, CT (March 15, 2004) -- Amie Smith Hughes has been named executive director of the Marketing Agencies Association Worldwide (MAA). She succeeds Vincent Sottosanti, who has just retired. Mr. Sottosanti was a former president of MAA and had been executive director since 1994.

Founded in 1973, MAA Worldwide members are the heads marketing services agencies in many countries. Ms. Hughes' duties for the MAA will include coordinating activities for the organization's spring and fall conferences, which this year will take place in Lago di Como, Italy (April 24-28) and in Miami, Florida (October 24-27).

Ms. Hughes continues as director of the MAA Worldwide's annual Globes Awards, which are presented at its fall conference, and as managing partner of The Global Marketer, a new Internet-based editorial service for marketers, also based in Stamford, CT.

Before co-founding The Global Marketer, which launches in April, she was managing director of the New York office of Zipatoni, a St. Louis-based unit of the Interpublic group of companies.
Prior to joining Zipatoni she had been director of international business development for Promotions.com, a New York-based interactive promotion agency. Ms. Hughes began her career at PROMO Magazine, where she became international editor and developer of the World PRO Awards, organized the Dialog Awards for interactive direct marketing and wrote articles for marketing magazines in Europe and South America.
Ms. Hughes is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and earned a master's degree from Boston University. While in Boston she developed and managed INC Magazine's Positive Performer Awards and worked on its program for recognizing America's 500 fastest-growing privately held companies.

A resident of Pelham, NY she has lived and studied in the U.K. and in Italy and has spoken at conferences and managed awards activities in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America.
