Sep 21, 2004 'Best of the Best,' plus Winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in All Categories, Will Be Announced Oct. 26 from a Record Field of 333 Entries from 24 countries
NEW YORK (Sept.21) – Sixteen marketing campaigns have been selected by an international panel of judges from a record number of entries (333 – a 40-percent increase over the 2003 total) in this year’s running of the GLOBES Awards.

Sponsored by the Marketing Agencies Association Worldwide (MAA) in association with marketing trade media and professional organizations around the world, the GLOBES honor outstanding below-the-line (promotion, event, entertainment, sports, entertainment and direct marketing) campaigns that have run in the past year.

The names of the 16 category winners, plus 46 gold, silver and bronze winners, as well as the winner of the 2004 "Gran Prix" award for best campaign overall, will be revealed at a GLOBES Awards reception and dinner Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the MAA Worldwide's 31st annual fall conference. (see attached list of finalists).

The conference, awards presentations and meeting will take place Oct. 24-27 at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Florida.

Narrowing the field from 333 to 62, and from that number nominating the Gran Prix champion, was the responsibility of a multinational panel of 55 judges, from 15 countries, who met, deliberated and voted on the Internet and via an international conference call earlier this month.

Any agency anywhere with a campaign that had already won recognition from a marketing organization in its own country or region was eligible to enter the 2004 GLOBES competition by accessing the MAA Worldwide Web site and scanning-in pertinent art, music and video clips accompanying a pre-formatted campaign description.

GLOBES judges, representing a cross-section of agency, client and marketing media from Europe, Asia and the Americas, downloaded the "portfolios" from the MAA site, scored campaigns by awarding points for originality, execution, performance and concept, and forwarded scores to MAA Worldwide for electronic tallying.

Campaigns in the 2004 GLOBES program were submitted by agencies and client companies in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and the USA.

2004 Globes Finalists (in alphabetical order by campaign title) *Note: Canadian Globes finalists are not included in this roster because at the time of this press release, the winners of the Canadian PROMO! Awards (the MAA’s qualifying awards program) had not yet been announced.
