The 2007 PMAA Asia Dragons of Promotion Marketing

The 2007 PMAA Asia Dragons of Promotion Marketing, have been finalised in the hardest fought Programme ever.

The 2007 PMAA Dragon for the Best Promotion Marketing Campaign in Asia has been awarded to McCann Erickson Malaysia for their “Truth About Prepaid.com” Campaign for Digi Telecommunications Malaysia, in the hardest fought PMAA Programme ever. “Only 6.6 points separated seventeen top scoring Campaigns from seven Countries, making it a very difficult job for the 50 strong Pan-Asian Judging Panel to make their decision” said Mike Da Silva, PMAA Director and President for the Marketing Agencies Association Worldwide, organisers of the long standing prestigious, MAA GLOBES, acknowledging the very best in Promotion Marketing.

“It was also pleasing to see the large number of brand-building Campaigns which were entered this year, reflecting the growing strength of Brand Activation within the Industry in Asia”.

Before the Best In Asia Dragon was declared, Campaigns from China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore were selected as Dragons for the Best Campaign in their Country. These winners are:

  • Euro RSCG 4D Beijing, China. “Print It! Punch It! – The BOXING Epson ME Series Printer Launch Campaign” for Epson.
  • Solutions Integrated Marketing, India. “Golden Sphinx” for Microsoft.
  • LOWE Indonesia. “Extra Joss Musimnya Pesta Bola” for PT Bintang Toedjoe
  • McCann Erickson Malaysia. “The Truth About Prepaid.com” for Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Malaysia).
  • Bates / 141 Worldwide Philippines. “Project Brave Kids” for Project Brave Kids.
  • TEQUILA \ Singapore. “Royal Salute Ultimate Tribute” for Pernod Ricard Asia Duty Free.

PMAA 2007 broke last year’s records for the number of entries and Category Gold Dragons awarded to Campaigns from China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and for the very first time, Vietnam.

"We're working in a section of the communications industry that has seen the most acceleration in terms of both growth and capability in the last 5 years. Now Activation has a far greater strategic role, far beyond tactical parameters - we are building brand assets for our clients. As consumer cynicism about advertising increases, Activation's ability to touch and engage consumers in a brand is becoming critical for brand growth as well as sales. We allow our client's brands to actively give consumers rewarding experiences. That is increasingly the power, the uniqueness, of our place in the communications industry."

Joe Wong, Director of JWT Activation, Vietnam, PMAA Zonal Director for Malaysia and Vietnam.

46 Gold, Silver & Bronze Dragons will now compete in the MAA GLOBES, to be judged by the largest Judging Panel ever assembled, 150 Judges from 32 Countries, against the Best Campaigns from Promotion Marketing Award Programmes run in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, Israel, Japan, Russia, South Africa, UK and the USA. Winners will be announced at the Award Ceremony at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas on October 15th 2007.
